Even if the goal is non-involvement in something. I did not mean to imply any omnipotence in the decision making. Of course, there are all kinds of forces we don't control that effect us in our life and living. Self-determination also involves responding to forces we don't control. We do have free will. Religious as well as non-religious folk support that notion. Destiny is another issue. Self-determination in a broader sense leaves lots of room for interesting discussion. <<In l'affaire Clinton, we often see our core ethics expressed in how we stand on the issue. Moralists wanna see the guy's arse kicked early&often. Progressives wanna see the Republican opposition discredited and punished for sensationalizing a side issue. >> The bad guys want to see the mask pulled of the lone ranger. Both sides of this issue thing they are riding Tonto's horse.
