There is no one most popular device. It turns out that there isn't even one commonly agreeded upon metric for measuring. Power fets are booming, many are used in each system. Memorys are used many per system but competition is very vigorous. Processors enjoy the highest ASP (average selling price), but there is usually only one used per system. Sorry no silver bullet. If there were we would probibly not be discussing this. The past is always viewed 20/20, the future is, however, a little less clear. My forcasting record is virtually 100% for past events, and somewhat less than that for the future :).

It is interesting to note that even though the semi btb was abismal earlier this year, it was simply a price phenomon. The actual number of units shipped were at record levels. ASPs declined dramatically thus causing the btb to go below 1:1 but stresses on capacity were not releaved. Several suppliers have not instituted product allocation but they have instituted some euphmism that amounts to the same thing. The message is that semi consumption is at all time record levels - in selective areas. Modest increases in demand will result in allocation being implimented very quickly. There is not a lot of surplus capacity.

Any insight into any of the semi equipment people?
