FYI:

<<Digital music sales to hit high notes

Music sales will be fueled by an almost twenty fold increase in
Internet related business over the next two years, as consumers
find it easier to order CDs and tapes online and download music
from the Internet. London-based research firm Market Tracking
International said it projects Net-sold music will be worth $550
million in 2000, up from $28.7 million last year. At that rate, by
the year 2000 the Net would account for 1.25 percent of total
music industry sales. Direct delivery, whereby music is downloaded
from the Internet, will amount to between 10 percent and 15
percent of total Internet sales by 2004, MTI estimated. While the
U.S. will lead the market, the proportion of music sold in Western
Europe is expected by the researchers to rise to nearly one in
four worldwide from one in seven last year. >>
