As I have stated many times, I have been a shareholder in this company since 1984. My problem is not with their engineering expertise or their ability to develop new products. They just don't get it about marketing. This latest mess with Trex Medical is one of a long list of failures in marketing by farming it out to others such as Pennzoil, Sumitomo, Trex ..... I think they have some products with the potential to be blockbusters but if they can't market it, it just doesn't matter. During the Civil War, Samuel Colt sold the government many more revolvers than his competition combined even though most of his competitors had weapons which were technologically superior to his. What was his secret ? A superior and aggressive marketing plan. Having the best product is irrelevant if you don't know how to market it. A perfect example is American Superconductor. They do not have the experience or record of profitability that IMG has but they have a higher market capitalization and a much higher awareness among analysts and institutional investors. Just my opinion. Still long but not holding my breath for anything big to happen.
