I don't know if the whiskey aided the cure, but it sure made the suffering a lot more fun. I prefer George Dickel #8 myself, as it seems to have more "spiritual" qualities. I suppose any bourbon (or even rum) will do in a pinch.

My home-made cough syrup recipe is 1/2 cup sipping whiskey, 2 tsp lemon juice, 2 tbsp honey. Dose as needed. A big enough dose will sure enough make you cough. Too bad I didn't have any lemon juice or honey. Maybe next time.
