Howdy, Mr. K.
Here's my opinion. It's free, and I've been told it's fairly priced.
<g>
I consider a morally diffuse leadership to be the lesser of the two evils. It is an unstable configuration - most peculiarly amenable to remedy by election. It won't last - and it has already mobilized the voters to cast opinion ballots. (Don't ask me if I like what my fellow citizens are saying. But I am gratified that they have and speak an opinion. Beats voter apathy!!)
Now, a state built around a rigid ideology is durable. It cannot be undone by election. A revolution is required there - and the revolution has to be stronger and better informed than the state security apparatus.
Trouble is - it does happen that the revolutionaries install a worse system than the one they replace. Like in North Korea or (arguably) what they useta call French Indochina.
