Speeds Up to 50 Times That of a Conventional Modem Are Now
an Option

for Homes and Small Office/Home Office Environments through
ADSL, at a Fraction of the Former Cost

AvTel Communications, Inc., (Nasdaq:AVCO), and its Internet
service provider subsidiaries Silicon Beach Communications
and WestNet Communications today announced the launch of its
DSLink service, providing high-speed Internet access over
Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL). ADSL is a new
modem-based technology that provides a dedicated connection
to the Internet that is up to 50 times faster than
conventional modems. It works on an existing phone line and
allows the sending and receiving of voice and data
simultaneously. The user is always just a click away from
the Net with no waiting and no busy signals.

DSLink services will be available to residents and
businesses within three miles of one of their local
telephone company's Central Offices. Currently it is
available in downtown Santa Barbara, with further deployment
through Goleta and Carpinteria due by the end of November.
Customers will incur additional charges from their local
Telephone Company, in addition to their existing line
charges, and may select a service offering from Silicon
Beach for as little as $30/month.

Internet users with DSLink service will have greater access

including full-motion video, faster loading times, streaming

value-priced rate plans.
