I thought a stock had to be over $5 to be shortable. This thing was only $2 yesterday.

Most brokerage firms require a $5 price to open a short and may impose additional margin constraints if the stock drops below $5, but none will close your short because the stock drops below $5.

Look at a one-year chart:

On a two-year chart you'll see that this thing's traded as high as 20:
