Well Toy, Thanks for the education. If you only knew... hee hee.. Well, before I answer your question let me ask you two others. If an IT manager is integrating all the "IT components" into their DS what would those components be? Second, what is your experience with installing and maintaining a enterprise wide area infrastructure? BTW: I'm probably one of the last people here that need an education on directories.... kind of funny that you did that for me. But I believe that (perhaps unlike you) I also have an appreciation for the infrastructure issues. Do you think and IT director will bring down an entire network...albeit in peices to reinstall new networking equipment. Do you think the CFO will pay for it? Do you think the users will stand for it give that it might already be functioning fine...not to mention the ongoing headaches of tuning. Also assume that in most cases these business are widely distributed...replacing the infrastructure - assuming the users and the CFO will stand for it (notice the IT manager is the tail of the dog in this one my friend) the IT staff will have to fly all over the country - perhaps the world the replace the routers/switches. By the time this is all done a smart guy sitting at the home office could have ported the NDS directory to AD. Don't misunderstand me,... I'm not saying this is an easy task. I'm just saying that it's a lower cost, less abtrusive alternative which will certainly get the blessing of most executive management teams and users. Aaaaanyway, this discussion is mute anyway. If, and that's a BIG IF, LU/NOVL have an integrated solution before CSCO and ??? then the lead will be very small. NOVL's lead in DS right now is meaningless. OG
