I understand your point. I am just raising the possibility of P/E falling to market mean if investors view on Dell changes in a negative fashion. I am cognizant of financial mathematics, I studied these concepts in depth during my CFA examinations, and there it was pointed out that a reversion to the mean is probable where competitors are able to drive down market share/net margins. I love Dell, but am waiting for the stock to become cheap in my terms. If I miss the boat it will be my loss, admittedly. By the way, did your reveiw of financial mathematics literature lead you to believe that paying 81x trailing earnings, or 60?x projected earnings (or whatever it is) is prudent? That same literature explicitly warns of the possibility of falling earnings and a falling P/E causing massive share price erosion. Will Dell fall? I don't know. If it does I am going to buy some!
