Actually, DELL's price has not moved up faster than earnings growth.
The formula for DELL price has not been based on its past earnings but has been based on its future earnings. Based on that formula DELL's price should be about $ 70 per share at this time.

DELL price was driven lower than usual last quarter by the financial turmoil in the world markets. It dipped as low as 40.5 in early October during the day after the hedge fund scare. It is also true that most other stocks were driven lower as well by this turmoil.

To argue that a high growth rate company should be priced based on the previous four quarters growth is investment by means of a rear view mirror. If a company is not growing appreciably then it makes sense to value it based on its historical earnings.
