I'm puzzled about the benefits of the JV as presented on this thread.

After reading how it will benefit the users it comes up to nothing.

Wireless internet is already there. Wireless e-mail, ditto. So is wireless remote connection to Unix server.

A friend of mine has Nokia Communicator, he reads his e-mail, he surfs internet during meetings, news, sends faxes etc. No cable, no laptop. Communicator has been on the market since summer -96.

So the question is: why does MS get involved with such laggard technology? They must be stupid or there must be something else cooking that we don't know about. My impression on them is that they are not that stupid.
