John, I have no doubt that many do look at the whisper number. That would explain a short term fluctuation. What I am not sure is that whether many do look for the whisper number which should have a longer term effect. HQ's valuation model is proprietary, so they do not need to provide explanations about their downgrade. Same goes for ML. In any case, they are not my broker (and even my broker SSB's record is not quite great in valuing DELL). One can only justify or refute an open valuations model. Tell me, why do you think that DELL is overvalued?
