Box Hill's Fibre Box(R) is 'Blazing' According to an Independent Review in Leading
Industry Publication

PR Newswire - November 13, 1998 08:53

BackOffice(R) CTO Labs Obtains Peak Performance Using Box Hill's Controller-less RAID

NEW YORK, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- BackOffice(R) CTO Labs put Box Hill's (NYSE: BXH) Fibre Box(R) to the test and found
its throughput and speed to be "beyond blazing," according to an independent review entitled "Enterprise Scalability" which recently
appeared in BackOffice CTO magazine. The review, which also appears in sister publication InfoStor under the title "Benchmarking
an NT Fibre Channel Cluster," was conducted as part of BackOffice CTO Labs' ongoing efforts to test leading-edge technologies.

CTO Labs tested two dual loop, controller-less RAID Fibre Boxes in a Windows NT(TM) Clustering environment. The total
capacity of both units combined was 144 GB. The peak spiral throughput came in at an "extraordinary" 103 MB/s. This was
achieved using 64 KB data transfers which is the size currently used by Microsoft(R) (Nasdaq: MSFT) SQL Server(TM) 7.0.1.
Testing the Fibre Box is "de rigueur" for anyone looking at Fibre Channel RAID technology for data marts or multimedia streams,
according to the article. The review was conducted and written by Jack Fegreus, Editor-in-Chief of BackOffice CTO.

Dan Kalagher, V.P. of Marketing and Product Management for Box Hill said, "I am extremely pleased with the results of the CTO
Labs review. It establishes the Fibre Box as a FC-AL controller-less RAID storage solution with superior performance that can
meet the demands of data-intensive applications."

About Box Hill's Fibre Box

The Fibre Box is a dual FC-AL controller-less RAID storage system with an unprecedented level of throughput, accelerating any
application requiring fast storage I/O. A Fibre Box-based solution eliminates the need for expensive external Fibre Channel RAID

transfer rates of over 200 MB/s; more with advanced SAN Spanning(TM) technology. The Fibre Box also features transmission
distances up to 10 km, support for up to 126 host/device connections and capacities of up to 2.27 TB.

Box Hill Systems Corp. is a leading independent provider of storage and SAN solutions that are bigger, faster and smarter than
industry competition. Box Hill, based in New York City, is recognized worldwide by a customer base that includes many of the
largest financial, telecommunications, digital imaging, multimedia, pharmaceutical, government and university research institutions
