Dennis,

Glad to hear that you have experienced some of our northern winters here in the NWT. I have been a resident of Yellownife for 22 years and have spend almost 30 years in the north. I most definately agree that winters are dark and cold in this neck of the woods which makes working outside a challenge. However, winter is usually the time of year that a lot of exploration work and drilling programs occur. The reason for is is that a lot of properties are accessable via winter road. This is the time of year where equipment can be trucked in, as well as camp equipment. I am sure you will agree that drilling on top of a platform of ice to the bottom of a lake is easier that accomplishing this from shore.
I have worked in a mapping office (claim maps) for a few years and have noticed that alot of prospectors and exploration companies purchase a larger number of claim sheet during the winter months. Call us fools, but us northerners are a hardy bunch

sincerely

Al
