I think so - look back at the last few quarters and think about the impact of a 10% reduction in EPS on share price, which would be the probable result of putting the options on the balance sheet. Also it would not be fair to penalize Dell if the other guys don't have to account for options in the same way. I think this would be a tough sell. It would be better to get some change in general accounting practice which would make the accounting standard for everyone but that would probably take years. Nice thought though.
