From Yahoo...WHICH HORSE HAVE THE INSTITUTIONS BEEN BETTING ON LATELY?

Today, I did some digging at iionline.com, a great research site. I was particularly interested in the institutions transactions of CUBE and its competitors(i.e. esst, zran, oakt) in the past three months amid the wide-spread fear of a prolonged semi-conductor slump in 1999. Not to my surprise, I see major institutions betting heavily on CUBE.

To sum it up, for the past three months, institutions made net purchase of more than 5 million shares of CUBE! While records for the same period shows that institutions are net sellers of esst, zran, oakt, and vlsi. Assuming that the big guys got into CUBE at an average price of $17 per share. That's $85 million investment in CUBE by the big boys! Put it another way, while CUBE's price was depressed by market conditions and pessimistic sentiments, institutions scooped up more than 10% of CUBE's oustanding shares of 41 million.

Here are the links:

Institutions transactions of CUBE: Net purchase of 5.2 million shares

Institutions transactions of ESST: Net sells of 1.7 million shares
