Compaq has started shipping product with Compaq branded Intel NICs, and will soon offer 3Com branded NICs as well. WE WOULD EXPECT SHORT-TERM MARKET SHARE TRENDS DUE TO THESE INITIAL SHIPMENTS TO REVERSE ONCE COMPAQ STARTS SHIPPING STANDARD 3COM NICS. Note that Gateway uses Intel NICs for their small office and consumer line, and 3Com NICs for their ENTERPRISE LINES. Dell uses Intel NICs for their low-end, lower-volume PC line and 3Com NICs for their HIGHER-VOLUME PC LINE. We have not changed our expectations for 3Com NIC revenues in this quarter or going forward, and believe 3Com is STILL BEST POSITIONED TO CONTINUE TO LEAD IN THIS MARKET.
