Obviously companies can spin the data in many ways. I tend to believe HYSL over ORCL anyday. It is virtually undisputed that Essbase blows away Express. In fact I talked to one consultant a few days ago that stated Express has actually fallen further behind since Oracle bought them. I think Essbase's win rate against Express in non-Oracle accounts is 95%+ and in Oracle accounts very high as well except when politics get in the way.

Regarding today, probably in response to MSFT's coming release of SQL Server 7.0 and the doomsday Plato. Although this is a non-event for Hyperion, the lemmings line up to sell as if this is the first time they've ever heard of it. I have confirmed in many many circles (consultants who work with both, existing customers of Essbase, and prospects looking at both)that Plato may be on the radar screen, but will be deployed in the vast majority of sites only in departmental and smaller app situations. It just is no match for the enterprise scalability and multi-platform nature of Essbase.
