Ron, you didn't ask me my opinion on NXTL IR but I'll give it to you anyway. No extra charge. :-)

Paul Blalock works for Dan Akerson and Dan Akerson works for Craig McCaw. Paul is not a country bumpkin nor are his bosses. PAUL IS DOING EXACTLY WHAT DAN AND CRAIG WANT HIM TO DO: MAINTAIN A LOW PROFILE. Long before we invested in NXTL I believe that they made a decision on how they were going to handle PR and IR in the early years. "Early" defined as "while the network is being built and before NXTL is ready to go after the mass market". PR would be limited to advertising directed to target markets only and IR would not be high profile. That's what they've done and I believe that's exactly what they're going to continue to do until the company can handle all the attention that a high profile generates. YOU MAY RECALL THAT THE OLD CALL DISAPPOINTED INVESTORS WHEN 1ST GENERATION IDEN FLUNKED. THUS, NXTL IS BEING EXTREMELY CAREFUL HOW THEY HANDLE THINGS THIS TIME AROUND.

Let's be clear on several points: 1. NXTL's network is not as wide and deep as they would like - that will change but it takes time and capex. 2. NXTL's back office is still working hard to keep up with the growth (so is Sprint-PCS's - see their ipo info for details).
3. NXTL has all the growth they can currently handle - witness the NYC system problems.

So I don't understand all this "Hey, pay attention to me - I'm an investor in NXTL and you need more press releases so the world will know about NXTL" baloney. NXTL will continue to quietly chug along until they're ready to bust things loose. Not a day sooner and your voiced frustation isn't going to change that one iota.

Yes, I'd like the stock to go up but the best way to get it up and keep it there excludes hype and/or unrealistic expectations. Akerson, McCaw et al are building a keeper and that takes time. For those who want a quick hit, I suggest the internet stocks. (And "hit" may be the appropriate word to describe unwary investors who buy those stocks.)
