Agree with you completely on the stock-option repricing game. Also, I think that there is an extremely easy way to figure out the value (therefore, the cost) of options. The market does it every day. And maybe companies should be forced to show that as expense. For example, say Dell grants someone 1000 options at today's price that expire in five years. Then, the company should just check out the current Leaps (Nov 2003, Dell 65s) and the premium is the cost that the company should show (and maybe employee should see on their W2s). And repricing could be dealt with similarly as well.
