I have a better solution. Let's cut the federal budget by one-third, cut taxes by one-quarter, pay down the debt, and privatize Social Security. Eliminate mortgage deduction, earned income tax credit, capital gains taxes, ... Let's just go to a tax on gross income and on sales not on net income to tax the people who underreport or manipulate income for tax purposes. A gross income tax of flat 8% and
a sales tax of 7%. Europe and all the other countries that want to restrict US imports use VAT.
