Ice, [edited] re volatility as a function of price: at the very low
end are penny stocks. Syquest [SYQT - now defunct] is an example.
A couple of weeks ago a SYQT fan boasted that that stock had
gained 50% in one day. It had gone from 2/32 [or 1/16] to 3/32
That was the minimum up move of 1/32. It could not move up
less than 1/32 or 50%. Seems very volatile. A 50% intraday
movement for a $100 stock is probably unheard of.

How about this IPO?
RECORD-BREAKING IPO.... So this company theglobe.com
went public today. Came out at $9. Went to $97!!!!
Really. Then closed at $63!! Up $54!!!! And what is
theglobe.com? Looks like just a Yahooie, build-your-own
home page thing to me! BTW, the New York-based company
beat Broadcast.com for the biggest gain ever for an
IPO. Avtel went to THE MOON!!!! And then it was halted.
K-Tel dropped $8, to $19. Eventually all this Internet
madness will end. But not this month!!
