MB: that is not a fair evaluation.

if the product was allowed to be sold freely in the US, and the demand was there, the entire country of brazil theoretically could be converted to grow the tree, bush, whatever, and the cost would drop.

it is really just another farm product, and supply determines the price.
acreage determines the supply.
anticipated demand determines acreage devoted to growing the product.

(did I get that right? LOL)
