But don't forget, Curtis, that seek has always been the runt of the litter, fighting to get a position as the bosom of commerce while its brothers suckle at their leisure.

A year ago, there were many who argued that seek wouldn 't be around today. Same with xcit. The theory was that giant, yhoo, would gobble up the industry leaving empty search engine carcasses in its wake. Yet, not only are they still here, but part of the old-timer family of the net. They went from search engines to portals. Who knows what they will be called in the next few quarters. But the point is that despite all the change, the remain alive and healthier than ever. But of this illustrious group of survivors, seek will always be thought of as the runt unless, and this is a big unless, it does something to distinguish itself.

Is go.com the magic bullet? I personally doubt it.
