Joey:

Regarding "In my thinking the big move will begin when the media starts covering the problems(possibly 6 weeks away)."

I didn't write that so why are you asking me if I live in a cave?

Obviously y2K has been covered all over the place...the person that made that quote hopefully meant that people won't react to the problem until it becomes more immediate...closer to the year 2000. This, in context, doesn't sound so unreasonable.

Though your adeptness at taking things out of context is pretty amazing.

Regarding your "jumping ship" theory...your "research" is like pre-mature ejaculation. Before you get too deep or penetrating, you come to a conclusion prior even to getting un-zippered.

From what I've been able to discover from archived SEC filings, EDS acquired Canmax by purchasing controlling interest in Canmax's stock in the early 1990's. EDS then formally changed the name of its company to Canmax in or around 1996. When EDS acquired Canmax from Rominica, they appear to have installed a whole new set of officers and board of directors.

Looking at the 10 year chart for Canmax, the company only started trading on the OTC as a BB in 1994. According to the press release the Canmax acquired from Rominica in 1990 was a NASDAQ listed company.

Rather than "jump ship", it appears that Rominica built a company from the ground up and sold out to pursue other investment and business opportunities. If he had any interest in Canmax after he relinquished reigns of this company he established, it appears to be only as that of a share holder. If he sold his shares back in 1994, he is nothing other than a savy investor.

Regarding the link to Jeffy's earlier post.... that is a very interesting article that should be read in it entirety...

These links are salient excerpts...

zdnet.com
zdnet.com

The authors of the article review third party fixes. The authors assume that the reader has enough knowledge of PC's and the time to enact many of the fixes themselves without the third party software including acquiring all updates from software manufacturers and BIOS patches, consequently the authors are dismissive of all third party software especially for stand alone systems. ("...If you're dealing with a single machine, we recommend that you implement your own fix ...").

Are the authors in an ivory tower? Are the authors conclusions pertinent to typical and less sophisticated users who are just users (not "geeks")? The authors of the review at no time claim that the list of products reviewed is inclusive. Each product reviewed is very cursory at best. The authors only cite free diagnostic tools not free fixes.

Consequently, the article cited in Jeffy's post is an excellent source of information but not a very telling review.
