George, I agree with you completely that ways should be found to finalize the situation and lift those sanctions, but bombing them is not the only way. Frankly, to some extent, I feel we bear some responsibility to Iraq invading their neighbors in the first place. Our own Ambassador (ambassadress?) was informed of Iraq's intentions and stated (quite stupidly, IMHO) that the US would consider that an "internal Iraqi affair" (at the time we liked Iraq more than we liked Iran?), then suddenly, Bush recognized the horror of allowing such an invasion and left Saddam quite confused as to what Bush's Gulf policy really is. Sometimes, I wonder if Iraq was not "seduced to invade", so we can get an excuse to eliminate his weapons of mass destruction.
