Skeets, O.K., a Lockheed L-1011 jet is on its way across the Atlantic from New York. About two hours into the trip, there is a loud boom, the plane shakes and bit, and then rights itself.
"Ladies and gentlemen," the pilot announces. "We have just lost one engine. But, this is a three engined plane and can easily make it to Paris on two engines. However, due to the loss of the engine, we are going to be about an hour late getting to Orly. We have to run slower so the engines doen't overheat.""
Two hours later, there is another boom, a shimmy, and the pilots' announcement.
"Ladies and gentlemen, heh, heh, we lost a second engine. Don't worry, we can easily make Paris with just one engine. However, we will now be 3 hours late landing at Orly."
In the back, you could hear a College Station drawl speak up.
"Shoot," The Aggie said, "if we lose that third engine, we'll be up here all damned day."
