Hi Chris, long time, no talk! *smile*
I've been goofing around for the last few hours at my favorite site, Motley Fools, reasearching their latest (Jan 3) Data Base of best stocks as they have analyzed them from MorningStar and Investors Daily. For your enjoyment, here are what Denise considers the "best of the best:"
Legend: Column A--Stock Symbol Column B--EPS Percentile Ranking Column C--Relative Strength Percentile Ranking Column D--Sum of B and C Column E--Accumulation/Distribution Grade Column F--Current Stock Price (Jan 3) Column G--YPEG Potential Column H--Price/Sales Ratio Column I--YPEG Price Target (based on columns J and K) Column J--Consensus Year Forward EPS Estimate Column K--Estimated 5-year Growth Rate
-A-----B----C-----D-----E------F------G------H------I----J------K CPQ---91--92---183---A---76.38---48%----1.2---113---5.67---20% CSCO--99--86---185---B---65.63---46%---10.5----96---2.74---35% GATE--96--94---190---A---53.88---44%----0.9----77---3.87---20% KRB---92--90---182---B---27.25---52%----3.1----62---1.66---25% MOSI--99--90---189---A---34.75---33%----1.2----46---3.08---15% VRC---92--91---183---A---22.25---71%----2.1----38---1.03---37%
Since I own CPQ, CSCO, and MOSI stock, and do not really like GATE after looking at its last quarterly report, I studied quarterly reports of KRB and VRC, then put some loose bucks I had into VRC. Take a look at KRB, its right up your alley! I bet your could make more sense of their quarterly report than I can.

Country Funds. I'm out of managed funds of any type all together, so that my money is not going to a fund manager's salary. But if looking at country funds, I would suggest considering, 1) the entrepreneurial spirit of the people, 2) the government's long term commitment to improving the economy, 3) lack of interference by the local religion and long term wealthy people in the country, 4) lack of graft, 5) growth potential of the economy, 6) lack of outside threats to the country.
With this in mind, I would choose Vietnam first, Malaysia second, and South Korea third. After China swallows up HongKong, if all goes well, China might be good. If you are interested in these funds, I know there are investment magazines which rate the funds and I would probably use those to decide which appears to be the highest quality.

I'm still researching the web site you mentioned!
Take care, and I hope you had a great week. Sincerely, Denise |
