Well AOL has proven that the stock market doesn't really need earnings
anymore. What you do need is marketing and investment bankers to help
you get your customers.

As bad as AOL's service is (busy signals, no connect, slow) a lot of
paying customers don't know yet that they can do better.

But competition will eventually erode the monthly/annual/hourly
charges. AOL sees that as well and is doing everything they can to
get and retain customers.
