Sunny,

Not to belabor the point, but I don't think you have your facts straight. Yes, some option trading is allowed in an IRA, coverd call writing and protective puts are allowed. No other buying and selling of options are allowed because buying and selling of options are done through a margin account. I've taken a look at my monthly statements and I see my purchases and sales of options take place in the margin account. When you buy an option to open a position, take money from your cash account and put it into your margin account for the purchase. Whey you close a position and sell an option, they take the cash from the sales proceeds and move it back into your cash account. If you can prove otherwise, please give me some names of brokerage firms that allow option trading in an IRA. I will gladly open an account with them. I've had a 90% ROR on my taxable account due to option trading the last 8 months and I'd love to shelter my option trading gains in an IRA.
