As a "Standard Bearer of The Truth" (your turgid phrase, not mine) I know you'd want me to correct this factual error.

In the excerpt quoted above from your post, the second sentence is quite wrong. Magnetic disk media are tested for write cycles far in excess of 1000. You would need to start adding some zeros to that figure to get it right. How many zeros depends upon which media we're talking about.
