thanks for your reply 8291, I agree with your explanations......I guess the next question would be :What else can Dell sell OTHER than computers as the market slows in order to keep its growth rate up....Mr. Dell says (along with Kemble) CHINA !!, .......I am certainly not qualified to answer that one BUT it sure looks like that country could keep the company occupied for quite a while. gg

I get the impression that Mr. Dell and company realize they can't rely solely on one product or product line......this was brought out during the short interview last week on cnbc.....as one product or geographical area slows another takes up the slack kind of like what the big drug companies do as one medication gets closer to losing its patten another blockbuster comes on line.

Any opinions out there......am I close??

Why can't Dell become another GE??

oh yeah, I also noticed during the cnbc interview that Michael would not give a clear answer when asked about buying other companies....he was talking about the industry consolidating over the next few years.
