I don't know Ballmer personally of course, rudedog, but I've been told he's a (literally) funny guy. In terms of public persona, he shoots from the hip, but I see honesty coming through over the PR line, too. He sort of overdid it with the apologetics for "Janet Reno can go to hell", I could handle that line a lot better than the numerous metaphorical analogical defense lines. Then there was that Mary Jo Foley story about the OEMs going to Ballmer for mercy after Joachim Kempin had raked them over the coals. Ballmer sounds like somebody you could go out for beer with, after the day's business was over. Bill always sounded a lot more prickly. Cheers, Dan.
