Dave,
where do you get futures info at this hour? thanks, GR

BTW, Barrons has some interesting comments about the possibility of a rate cut...I liked the analogy of this week's rate cut being like a dose of antibiotic given to the patient as a preventative of future infection (for example, "take that dose even though your symptoms are resolving just to prevent a relapse"...)...that's why I've been counting on a cut this week, and I was glad to see some experts(?) (unlike me!) supporting this point of view...as I have been trying to convince myself that the cut will happen.

I think that the rate cuts are a total Package, and this week is part 3 (or "pill 3") in the package...which was designed for the longer term, bigger economic picture...many of those details which none of us knows and AG and Co. do. Let's hope the odds are on our side for a cut.

Between a cut and no war, I think last week's sensationalism of Dell missing the whisper # and Compaq gunning down direct sales will be sufficiently diluted. And I do hope that Mickey does NOT hype up 4th quarter so that the good #s will be a SURPRISE next time. With Intel's recent turnaround, I can't imagine that Dell's 4th quarter will disappoint.

JMO, cheers - GRANOLA
