I guess some of this is guaranteed just by the business of competitive sales. Each competitor, when times are starting to get tough, expects to increase sales by grabbing market share and produces based on what they individually think they can do by outselling their competitors.

Supposedly for the direct crew they don't have to stockpile anything, but the truth is they do. How do you assess how wrong they can be given the build-to-order model? Can they adjust weekly, every couple of weeks, monthly and still not risk having inadequate supplies of parts to build what they need?

Hpeace was always saying that these ordering systems had it down to some kind of phenomenal precision, but I wonder. Can we only assess this by looking back after the season is over. Or can we then? Have you ever tried to get more than a fuzzy handle on this?
