It looks like the FAA has decided to bleed them slowly, probably still smarting from the criticism connected with the hearings. Giving them 3 planes instead of the 5 requested (I thought it was 15 they wanted) is a perfect illustration. Refusing to allow the "new" routes over the Christmas rush and then granting some of them just afterwards appears clearly punitive and capricious, but gives the FAA the image of being "tough" on VJET. Then this latest announcement that they discovered problems with VJET's operations as recently as December appears to confirm their agenda. At this rate it will take a lot longer to expand the fleet and routes sufficiently to reach profitability. One wonders whether the FAA has decided to drive them out of business to show how stern they can be or whether, once a little more water is under the bridge, they will more reasonably grant requests that will amount to little more than restoring a substantial percentage of pre-existing size and service. The company's future seems to hang on the FAA's peculiar whims.
