Dear John

I was wondering what you think about the following quote:

"GIC expects fourth quarter earnings, which will be
announced on February 10, to be in the range of $0.28 to $0.32
per fully-diluted share, excluding the charges.
The company said it will incur additional after-tax charges
in 1997 of $50 to $70 million, or $0.33 to $0.47 per fully
diluted share, for costs related to the consummation of the
restructuring."

John, do you read this as saying that GIC expects to report a loss in the 4 the quarter ( best '0.32-0.33=0.01/share' or worst '0.28-0.47=0.19/share')?

The stock should move down if a loss is declared in either case, shouldn't it?

thanks louis mason
