Obie: Your information about Bid.com's business model are not correct. You speak of Bid.com's inventory, but the company does not purchase inventory. Instead they act as a sort of middleman and ship products directly from the suppliers. The inventory that you see on the balance sheet is the sales returns in transit. The company has the option of reselling the goods or sending them back to the supplier for credit.

Therefore, your contention that Bid.com makes money by selling "their" inventory at a price higher than cost doesn't hold. In fact, like Ebay, they also make money on commissions.
