Jeff, I expect that if THQ had renewed the WCW license, the gap from the day after Q4 earnings would've never been filled either. The stock gapped $2 that morning and only filled $.50 of that. Never came close to filling any more and was ready to break to $35 or so when the news came about losing the license. I think a better question might be, will we fill the gap tomorrow morning, much less the one on Friday. <<ggg>>

<<My two concerns with THQI are pushing back the release of any more games, and their to date unsuccessful push into the PC game market.>>

I'm sure you agree that things are picking up on the PC front. I was just at two CompUSAs and both had plenty of BASS and Redjack. (I've no doubts they'll sell out by Christmas.) I forgot to check on Brunswick. I am starting to think that Nitro PC can't help but sell very well, just on WCW momentum. Excession in May or thereabouts will be the big one, ie THQ's latest big chance to enter the big leagues of PC sellers. The recent MF interview with Farrell was very encouraging in respects to the GameFX technology. Gotta give props to Joe G. for being on top of this one all year.

I have to agree fully with your comments about gaming over the internet. Latency may suck, but not enough to stop people from playing. I play a little Quake most days. Sometimes if I'm not getting the kind of prices I want, I even head over to Gibbsville (quake.visi.net) during market hours just to try to sneak a few frags.
And I'm always high ping and thus at a real disadvantage. But I play anyway.

THQ got panned for the network aspects of Pax Imperia, but will get another chance with Excession. (Actually, has anyone played Brunswick over the net yet? It's probably a pretty cool extension of the game.) I imagine that the first WWF game for Dreamcast will have this too.

You live in the Bay Area, right? Did you happen to catch the PGL championships in SF this week? Wow. Another sign that this nascent subculture is taking off. I saw the championship Quake 2 round, where 23-year-old "Thresh" picked up $8,500 for dusting (and I mean dusting) "Immortal." Strategy was represented by a Starcraft tourney and teamplay was Quake I.

If anyone is still reading this far, it might be the place for me to say that Todd DeMelle and I started a SI Quake clan, strictly as an in-joke. It might be fun to gather up a few people here and once a month hit a server in full force and just screw around. If nothing else, we could annoy the sixteen-year-olds by talking about stocks in between frags. Or, we can settle our differences. <<gg>> I can probably speak for Todd in saying that he'll whip you up a real cool sig tag. A copy of Quake will probably run about $20 these days, so its cheap and a lot of fun. Btw, Todd's really good!
