Then why do they even bother to issue public recommendations? If they're completely in the biz of making money for their paying customers, then why give the "gift" of market guidance to the public? Or perhaps a better question would be, why would anyone listen to those public recommendations when the brokerage is taking the exact opposite position for their own cash?
