Yes this is big news but not new news - CPQ announced earlier in the year that all consumer products would have the capability for high-speed connectivity by the Christmas '98 season. What is interesting about this is the depth of CPQ's work to provide a complete and usable solution without limiting consumer choice. They have made it easy to get this capability through any of the possible 'pipes' - Cable, xDSL or satellite, with most of the hassle taken out of the process. This kind of across the board industry work is one of CPQ's strengths and I am glad to see them using this to develop competitive positioning.
