XOMA Corporation Title Supervisor of Operations (Fermentation) Location Berkeley, California, U.S.A. Description XOMA CORPORATION is an innovative biopharmaceutical company developing products for infectious diseases, traumatic injuries, and surgical applications. Working independently, the Supervisor of Operations will perform technical procedures related to the fermentation operations in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products for clinical trials. Essential Duties: Supervise fermentation activities and personnel. Issue schedules for respective areas. Maintain inventory of raw materials for scheduled activities. Train employees on manufacturing and other related procedures. Assist with the specifications and start-up of new equipment in the manufacturing area. Perform trouble-shooting of instruments and processes. Participate in process validation studies and work with technical development on new product scale-up and process optimization. Write SOPs for new procedures and review and edit existing SOPs to reflect changes in procedures. Other projects as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Biology, Chemistry or Engineering or a related field with 5 to 8 years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of cGMPs and their application to pharmaceutical manufacturing. Able to work independently and as part of a team; supervision experience or experience as team leader. Excellent organizational and good record-keeping skills. Effective communication skills; ability to write SOP's and other reports. EOE.
