X, re:Options in IRA

Help- Does anyone know of a brokerage that allows option trading in an ira account? I do not want to write covered calls- I can do that where I am now.

My understanding of IRA Fed regulations is that you may ONLY purchase options and/or write covered calls. That is, naked options and/or straddles are not permissible. Pehaps there is some taxation reason which escapes me; otherwise the rules are too stringent IMO. [Hopefully, I've properly interpreted your inquiry.]

On a seemingly unrelated note, I've been thinking about all that 401K/IRA money... What better way to guard the exits (while first-class guests depart) than with the steady stream of widow/orphan/clergy retirement money? At what point will this money be held ransom a la Japanese pension funds?

Cheers,
Alan
