Unfortunately Gene I don't have any updates over and above what I have already posted, wish I did. I do want to make a few comments though.
I, like everyone else, wishes that the company would open the information vaults some and let us know what they are actually up to. BUT (and it is a BIG BUT) WRN has been beat on, fairly severely, for being all hype and no meat, so now that they are not hyping anything, until it actually becomes reality, we all beat on them for that too. Now don't get me wrong, I do believe that there is a happy medium between the 2 approaches, but we may be seeing somewhat of a gun shy type of reaction.
Now for the speculation issues themselves:
- taking WRN private - I have not heard or seen anything to suggest this outcome and it would take a pretty fair whack of cash to do it, with little benefit (IMO)
- contracts - so far I have heard they are negotiating on a couple but to the best of my knowledge do NOT have them yet, so no news and all the nay-sayers would be all over them claiming undo hype, if they were issuing releases without the contracts being complete.
- the "new" venture - there was a business deal that commenced negotiation at the time that the sale of Taylor to Skytex first came up. From everything I have heard, this is NOT a done deal. Again they can't really announce anything until it is.
- as for the general long term direction the company takes, I would assume it is dependant upon whether we have a rival for Taylor, as the core business entity, or whether Taylor remains THE focus. If Taylor is THE focus, then I think the direction is fairly clear and is just a natural extension of what has been going on for some time now.
- the Skytex issue - I haven't heard anything new really, about Skytex, for a while now. I suspect that that scenario is dying, but honestly can't say for sure.
- Name change/New Exchange - I expect that these will be coincidental with one another if/when they happen. If the "new" venture comes about and is as big as it has been suggested it might be, then that alone may precipitate a name change, also. I have not heard a lot about an effort to change exchanges, just to change, for quite some time now.
- Mark Roberts - Mark can't trade in WRN any longer, at least not until he files his trading reports. That means he is stuck with his interest in the company. I suspect his interest is still large enough to warrant his wanting to see WRN fly. He may no longer be an official of the company, but I do not believe he has evaporated from the scene either.
I hope this helps some, just my views on some of the issues you have raised. Take it easy Gene.
