ETRADE Announces Active Trader Program ETrade is apparently planning to announce its long awaited special program for "Active Traders" on Tuesday of this week. As we understand it, customers trading more than 10 times per month will have free access to real-time Level II NASDAQ quotes, will be granted a complementary subscription to ETrade's "Professional Edge" service and will have dedicated customer service representatives. ETrade will be the first online trading firm in the Top 10 to offer Level II NASDAQ quotes (let alone free ones). Provided they work properly, this service is likely to be highly attractive to active traders. As currently structured, there will be no explicit price cuts, just the complementary enhanced services. While the program will result in lower gross margins in the short-term, it will help maintain account activity levels over the long term
