There's a new fingerprint biometric security merger -- Identix and Identicator: biz.yahoo.com I understand that Lehman Brothers termed Identix now as a "category-killer" in its field. In e-commerce, Identix has high-end enterprise and VPN applications; Identicator, privately held, has consumer level fingerprint reader deals with Compaq and Key Tronic, and smart card biometric deals with Mastercard and the US government. As of today, there are no significant competitors to this new entity.
