9r, please expand on your last paragraph. Are you saying Greenspan is bailing out Japanese banks? And if so, how and why? Isn't US' interest best served by current economic climate, both here and there?

Greenspud's reading of '29 is too Fed centered, -- as if they (Fed) could have stopped recession from happening. I no more believe that than I believe in Fed's ability to do it now. Fascinating reading nonetheless.

BTW, does 76 remain your current near term target?
