Delbert,
It seems I left plenty of room for misunderstanding. God does know what is coming. Because something is random doesn't mean God cannot know it in advance. Prayers can change things. I wish more had prayed that the hurricane would not be a killer. Prayer can change future events.

On the mutate issue I meant it cannot mutate beneficially (to produce a better or different species). A "mutation" is actually a breakdown in the DNA. It would be more accurate to call it damage than mutation.

The area of mathematics and physics is very interesting to me. It probably puts most people to sleep though. From what I have read Hawking explains that the universe is losing matter. He says because this matter is information this hinders our ability to make accurate predictions about the universe. I am saying there is a lot of speculation about the age of the universe but absolutely no proof. For an evolutionist it is important that the universe be billions of years old. If it could be scientifically proven to be much younger, say 6-10,00 years that would not be long enough for evolution. But the calculations that say the universe is billions of years old are not any more reliable than any other theory. That's what we are talking about here, theories. Because we do not understand enough of it to call any of it fact yet.

Hawking is being "funny" in a lot of his remarks about God. I never said he was a bible thumper. I just think it's very smart of him to leave the door open as he does. He admits to the necessity of a higher intelligence to make the universe that has the power to do so. He states that the universe happening by chance is a mathematical impossiblility.

You lost me on the post about the fossils. <gg>

cya,

Bob
