Bob, It seems I left plenty of room for misunderstanding. God does know what is coming. Because something is random doesn't mean God cannot know it in advance. Prayers can change things. I wish more had prayed that the hurricane would not be a killer. Prayer can change future events. This is actually one of the things that I find most offensive about the Christian God-concept: the notion that if enough people will only grovel with sufficient humility, God will relent and make the world a slightly less miserable place to live. I don't believe a word of it. Steve
